ScaffChamp isn’t just a competition — it’s a showcase of innovation, precision, and craftsmanship in the scaffolding world. And at the heart of this year’s event? A world-class scaffold design created by the team at ScaffPlan, built using genuine Layher components and engineered to meet the latest standards.
In this blog, we’re pulling back the curtain on the technical design for ScaffChamp 2025, giving you an insight at what went into bringing this event structure to life.
From the first concept to final detailing, the design brief was clear: create a scaffold structure that’s challenging, safe, and perfectly suited for competition conditions. The result? A robust, multi-platform setup integrating TG60 towers, cantilever bays, ladder hatches, and a fully engineered FW bridge span.
Each drawing is crafted with attention to structural detail, including:
Plan views and isometric perspectives to visualise all angles
Sectional cuts to inspect critical dimensions and load points
Detailed component layouts including TwixBeams, FW chords, base frames, and U-ledgers
Whether you're a scaffolder, engineer, or simply a scaffolding enthusiast, the drawings offer a clear view into how this complex structure is built and why it performs so well under pressure.
The ScaffChamp 2025 design is not just visually impressive — it’s technically rigorous:
Built using Layher Allround and TG60 systems
Designed in compliance with EN 12811-1.2 and BS5975-1:2024
Engineered for maximum load safety with defined UDLs and tie requirements
Delivered as a 3D digital model with QR code integration for easy access on-site
Every detail, from tie test loads to spigot connectors, has been checked and signed off by a qualified scaffolding design engineer — ensuring a safe, reliable build that meets competition and construction standards alike.
Each drawing is embedded with a QR code linking directly to the live design documentation, making it easy for crew members and judges to reference specs on the go. Smart annotations and clear dimensioning help teams build quickly and accurately under tight timeframes.
For ScaffChamp competitors, this drawing isn't just a plan — it's a playbook. It sets the bar for what a high-performance scaffold should look like, while demonstrating how digital tools like ScaffPlan streamline the design-to-build process.
It’s proof that great scaffolding starts with great design.
