KITJA SERVICES

Kitja Services is a majority Australian Indigenous-owned company providing a broad range of services across mining, energy, and commercial sectors. Kitja specializes in coatings, Insulation, and scaffold projects.

Clay Evans, is the co-founder and Managing Director of Kitja Services alongside Director of Operations Alex Hughes. Clay met with our Operations Manager, Aimee Schafer to provide some insights into Kitja’s application of ScaffPlan software.

Challenges

When asked what some of the challenges faced by Kitja Services, Clay explained “We’re a small business and we’ve got the same challenges that any small business has. Cash flow versus resources being one of these", and "where we understand that clients want high level expertise and a high level of finish. ScaffPlan is part of that when it comes to delivering quality service."

Balancing cost versus value

Finding the right balance between cost and value is a priority for Kitja Services. Clay their strategic approach was to always be looking for a comprehensive product to use for the entire project workflow or a range of tools that will work for each component for our clients and our business.

Demand for quality designs

Design quality and delivery for our clients with safety inbuilt into our projects is considered integral to our service, particularly for our Tier 1 clients, he explained.

Reducing report inaccuracy

When gear lists are inaccurate they can impact time and resource costs. “It reduces the need for crews to return to the yard to grab a few missing components.”

Inaccurate gear lists can have an adverse impact on both time and resource costs. Clay said By reducing these inaccuracies, we can eliminate the need for crews to make additional trips to the yard to retrieve missing components."

Project delivery at a distance

“When we use Layher if a gear list is inaccurate, it can be a challenge not being able to hire Layher”, especially as our projects can be delivered anywhere in Australia.

Solution

Kitja Services made the strategic decision to adopt ScaffPlan in 2021 to enhance project delivery refinements. While initially only utilized for 20% of the process, its usage has expanded as Cuplock has been integrated into the ScaffPlan platform.

Journey

Established by an industry experienced core team, in just two years, Kitja has delivered some impressive scaffold projects and service quality goals. These include ISO Certification, DEMEX’s Demolition Scaffold Project, and Ventia’s Scaffolding Works Project.

Kitja selected ScaffPlan software specifically to support their project delivery performance.

Value for money

“We bought ScaffPlan because of the incredible functionality. It is well priced competitively with other products on the market. If you have the volume ScaffPlan is definitely worth the investment.”

Assured report accuracy

Designing with ScaffPlan helped refine the gear lists to reduce the risk of over-cooking the order and ensure transport costs were kept to a minimum.

Easier design for delivery

“ScaffPlan has made it easy to transition from the design concept to site.”
